Production Blog : Sound Cutting
On November 18th my group and I decided to cut the music in class. This was because the music was planned to be based off the lyrics of the song. That meant the group had to cut it before filming in order for the music video to work out. This showed to be harder than expected though. Versus the maybe 30 minutes my group and I wanted to spend on the sound cutting it ended up taking the total 1 hour 30 minute class. The song was particularly long and repetitive. The parts also didn't flow as nicely making it difficult. This song was probably cut and edited around 15 times which was very stressful. This entire situation caused us to have to slightly rush our storyboard and finish it at home. That wasn't the original plan since I'm not a good drawer hence the storyboard being stick figures. Now that the song is finished being cut there are some slight parts that sound a little odd. My groupmates and I asked our families to listen to it and they assured that it sounded fine. I didn't do most of the cutting though. Instead Lili took over with editing just like she did in the commercial. This is because she already had the editing software. She also always has her Ipad which makes editing much easier. I gave advice as t where the songs should be cut. I also was also helping with trying to figure out which cuts sounded less obvious. Editing sound was a crazy journey but it was still really fun and I'm happy I got it over with.
