Creative Critical Reflection

Music Video Blog

My group and I have finally finished the filming and editing. I am glad to say that I have learned a lot during this process. I was able to improve on conducting specific moods through filming, and how the angles and lighting play such important roles in the setting. I am very satisfied with the outcome of my video, although it has been a bit stressful at times. The editing part was by far the toughest, while filming went overly smoothly, thanks to my great group mates. By comparing the music video to my commercial, I am seeing great changes an efforts. Not only the acting got better, but my skills in filming and editing as well. By exploring the editing app I’ve used, I discovered many new options that have greatly helped me achieve my goal by creating a well-made commercial. In conclusion, I am far from being disappointed and I am highly grateful for my great group mates that have made it easier to make a good project. I look forward to continue working with them in the future.

Production Blog: Filming Trouble

My group and I split filming into two days. This was because Briana and Hannah's mom wouldn't let them leave Lili's house to film on Tuesday. The scene the group didn't get to film that day was the Galleria mall scene. In that scene everyone is walking through the mall with bags in their hands and having fun. Since most of the filming was finished pretty early the group didn't feel the need to rush filming this part. Unfortunately it turned out that after thanksgiving break none of our schedules matched up. This meant filming was gonna be a lot trickier then it was intended to be. The group decided that it wouldn't be possible for us to make it to the Galleria mall to film. Everyone then came an agreement to film at the Dairy Queen after school on Thursday. At the end of class Angie and Briana went to change while Lili and I already wore the clothes for the music video to school. After that the group met up with Hannah so she could film for us again then everyo

Production Blog: Editing the Music Video

My group and I edited the song before filming the music video. This cut down the editing time by alot and made filming easier. The editing process started on the same day as filming. Lili still did most of the editing process as she has the software to do it. The first step was selecting all the final clips to be used which took around 30 minutes. Then they were grouped together and added to the music. All the scenes couldn't be filmed on the same day. This made editing harder as there was a gap in the middle were the scene was supposed to be. It took probably an hour to go through all the takes and choose the final ones to use in the video. The clips also had to match with the music which took more time then I thought. Lili played around with the sound a little bit more just to make sure everything sound good. The group decided to just leave it how it was. Some of the clips were also a little to long and had to cut down. Most of the editing was able to be finished the same day of

My group and I decided to film over thanksgiving break. This was recommended by our teacher and made a lot of sense. Everyone chose to film on Tuesday since Wednesday was the day before thanksgiving.  At 12 noon everyone meet up at Lili's house and was ready to film. The entire filming process was actually really fun. Briana brought her twin sister Hannah with her to film for us instead of having one of Lili's family members do it for us. The group decided to film in chronological order. This meant filming started with the first scene on the storyboard which was Angie getting a text and falling on the bed. I then had to pick up the phone and send a text back to said person. This proved to be more challenging than I thought but after about 3 takes I got it right. Throughout this entire experience there was a lot of collaboration with everyone and Hannah as she brought in a different viewpoint. The next scene filmed was the one where everyone was throwing clothes out of the clos

Production Blog : Sound Cutting

On November 18th my group  and I decided to cut the music in class. This was because the music was planned to be based off the lyrics of the song. That meant the group had to cut it before filming in order for the music video to work out. This showed to be harder than expected though. Versus the maybe 30 minutes my group and I wanted to spend on the sound cutting it ended up taking the total 1 hour 30 minute class. The song was particularly long and repetitive. The parts also didn't flow as nicely making it difficult. This song was probably cut and edited around 15 times which was very stressful. This entire situation caused us to have to slightly rush our storyboard and finish it at home. That wasn't the original plan since I'm not  a good drawer hence the storyboard being stick figures. Now that the song is finished being cut there are some slight parts that sound a little odd. My groupmates and I asked our families to listen to it and they assured that it sounded fine.
