Filming Blog
Today was our first day of filming. Since we finished our storyboards early we got an extra day to film. This filming day was pretty short though so we didn't film most of the commercial. First, we got our Media Studies pass to film and walk around on campus. Then Lili had to go change into her outfit for filming. After that, we went on a search for a ledge/balcony to film our opening shot. We had an idea of where to film it in our planning but it turned out not to be the best place. We ended up deciding on a long barrier-like wall we have in front of our cafeteria. Today Angie was the director so she brought a phone tripod and used her phone to film. It took us a lot of time to figure out the small details of what we had to do but the storyboard made it a lot easier. We took a lot of takes for the opening shot so we have to narrow it down in editing. We are in between one pretty good shot or taking the good parts of all the shots we took and editing it all together for the opening shot. After we finished filming this scene we decided to go to our set location to film the end scene. That wasn't possible though because a lot of people were at that location so instead we found a set of stairs in another building and filmed it there. It took us a while to decide on which level of stairs to film on because each one offered a different scenery. In the end, we decided to film on the 3rd flight of stairs. The hardest part about this scene was trying to do a tracking shot and timing it but I think we got it done well in the final take we did. We didn't have much time left after this so we went back to class. At home, though Lili started to edit the clips we chose. We're currently in between background music and filter for the commercial but all in all today was a good filming day.
